The high quality Alpina Cal.598 17 jewel movement is very clean and, unusually, still has its original metal dust cover - see photos. The Alpina Cal.598 went into production around 1950. The watch has a lovely cream patina rare black dial gilt. It holds gold coloured raised odd hour batons and even hour point numerals which are lume filled for use at night. The shaped hour and minute hands are gold in colour and have lumed centers. Sweep seconds hand. The solid looking quality chrome plated case is in lovely condition with just very light wear through to the brass underneath at the lugs. The shape is unmistakable Alpina. Original crystal is old. The case measures 41mm lug to lug and 33mm across not including the crown which was standard for its day but considered more mid-sized today with the oversized watches found in jewelers. The watch is fitted with a lovely original black leather strap in used condition. (1960) Das hochwertige Alpina Cal.598 17 Jewels Uhrwerk ist sehr sauber und hat, ungewöhnlicherweise, noch seine originale Metall-Staubabdeckung - siehe Fotos. Das Alpina Cal.598 ging um 1950 in Produktion. Die Uhr hat ein schönes cremefarbenes Patina-Zifferblatt, mit Lumen gefüllte Stundenpunkte-für den Einsatz in der Nacht. Die geformten Stunden- und Minutenzeiger sind in der Farbe Gold und haben beleuchtete Zentren. Zentralsekundenzeiger. Das solide verchromte Gehäuse ist in sehr gutem Zustand mit nur sehr leichten Abnutzungen. Die Form ist unverkennbar Alpina. Der Kristall ist alt. Gehäuse misst 41 mm von Ansatz zu Ansatz und 33 mm ohne die Krone, die für seine Zeit Standard war, aber heute mit den übergroßen Uhren, die bei Juwelieren zu finden sind, als mittelgroß angesehen wird.
